How do you feel about new year’s resolutions?
Perhaps you feel fired up and excited about making your life better? Or perhaps you feel discouraged because you haven’t accomplished your goals in the past? Or perhaps you feel a little of both — you are willing to try again, but you are afraid of failing? I know how you feel. I’ve been there too and I’ve found that the DreamBuilder practices have made all the difference.
As I look through my journal, I see some issues that haven’t been completely resolved yet, and some goals that haven’t been totally achieved and, at the same time, I see that I have made great progress on others.
The “old perfectionist me” would feel frustrated and discouraged but now I know that the so-called “failures” represent progress. They demonstrate that I took action and learned some valuable lessons. It’s not uncommon to try things that don’t work the way you expected and that’s OK. It’s taking action and enjoying the process, that is the key to success.
Like a toddler learning to walk who falls down and keeps getting up. A toddler never says, “Well that’s it! I guess I just wasn’t meant to be a walker.” She just keeps trying until she succeeds.

Success takes time and practice but we keep our eye on the prize and keep taking baby steps.
A Powerful Practice
Here’s a powerful exercise you can use to lift your spirits and set yourself up for a very happy new year.
1. Make a list of all the positive actions you took this past year. In the DreamBuilding Program we call them your “proud ofs” and we start each coaching session by sharing one.
2. Then, make another list with all the things you are grateful for this past year.
These two practices — listing your “proud ofs” and “gratitudes,” will raise your energy and your self esteem. You will feel more inspired to set goals for the coming year. (And speaking of setting goals, the DreamBuilder Program is now open for enrollment.)
