In the last few episodes of the podcast we’ve been going deeper with the foundational principle of dream building which is recognizing the power within you to achieve your dreams and accepting that Living happy rich and free is your birthright.
Spiritual principles, psychology, and quantum physics all verify that this is true. My purpose for going deeper with these principles is to build your faith that realizing your dreams truly is possible and do-able. You don’t have to settle and you shouldn’t.
This week we’re going to go deeper with Mindset #2 from the guidebook which if you haven’t downloaded already you can get at https://dreambigandbloom.com/guidebook/
Mindset #2: Your vision
Once you are aligned with your higher power, you’re ready to plant the seeds for the life you would truly love living. You start by recognizing and honoring your longing and discontent asking yourself the question “what would I love”. To the degree that you have accepted your power and embraced a sense of deserving you won’t settle, you won’t be concerned about the how. You will focus on what makes your heart sing and what specifically would be the antidote to your discontent.
And today, I’m going to give you 4 keys to creating a really powerful vision statement that most people don’t know about. Are you ready?
The true desires of your heart are not just about having the “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,” although you can have those things. Your true source of feeling happy, rich and free is in living according to your life’s purpose, your passion and your core values.
When your vision is in alignment with your purpose, your passion, your core values and your unique abilities, the full force of your life energy flows at a much faster and more concentrated rate, puts you on a frequency that accelerates your results and makes the process easier and more fun.
The Four Keys
There are actually Four Keys to creating a powerful Vision Statement.
Your Purpose
As Mary Morrissey, creator of the DreamBuilder Program says, “Something great is seeking to be expressed through you today.”
Your purpose is the rudder for your ship. It helps you navigate your daily life. Knowing your purpose makes many of life’s decisions easier to make. A purpose helps you become persistent and resilient at times when you are required to deal with some of life’s most challenging situations. A definite purpose removes the confusion that can arise when deciding what to do next.
Sometimes contemplation of your purpose will activate your brain’s inherent resistance to change. You might wake up some paradigms that make you think you don’t know what your purpose is but you do. It’s inside you.
Think about it this way…when you have put your head on the pillow for the last time, you will have left a beneficial footprint while having walked this earth. You are as unique as your thumbprint. There will never be another person just like you to walk the earth.
By defining your purpose, you can gain clarity, focus, and direction in your life. Becoming aware of your purpose helps you connect with the infinite side of your nature.
To help explore the many facets of how your purpose reveals itself in other areas of your life, Mary has developed a five-step process.
It begins with finding renewed clarity of your values.
Next, uncovering what you are truly passionate about.
Then, you will take stock and acknowledge all of your personal assets.
1) Determine Your Values
What do you hold most dear to you? Your values are deeply held beliefs that govern and guide your behavior. Examples include: honesty, integrity, faith, family, and love. They are what matter most to us, and are at the core of our being. They’re extremely important, because we make important decisions based upon values. Our behavior, decisions and actions flow from values. In order to uncover your values, just ask yourself, “What is most important to me?”
Action step:
- Brainstorm a list and
- then go back and circle the most important 10.
- Then prioritize those and create a final list between 5 – 7 values.
2) Uncover Your Passions
Passion is the internal fire that raises our vibration. What excites and energizes you?
What brings you joy? Passion gives us that internal fire to succeed. It acts as a motivating force that fuels action. (Some examples are: I’m passionate about helping others find their purpose, passion and fulfill their potential; I care deeply about the environment and protecting wildlife; I love teaching others about health and nutrition; I love running, rock-climbing and testing my personal limits.) My passion is preventing people for settling and helping them to create a life they absolutely love, to be happy, rich and free — whatever that looks like for them.
3) Identify Your Personal Assets
When we hear the word “assets” we’ve been trained to think about those physical things like money, securities, and property. However your personal assets are non-physical. Your personal assets include: talents, gifts, qualities, skills and characteristics.
What do people say you’re good at? Has anyone said, “You’re a natural born leader, a great listener, a great salesperson, or great athlete?”
Another way to think about it is to ask yourself this question: “Given your interests, talents, skills, and gifts, in what way do you make this world a better place?”
What brings you joy and makes you feel fulfilled?
Action Step:
Make a list of your assets. What are your special gifts? What are you good at? What do you love to help people with? What makes you feel happy, productive and fulfilled?
4) Describe Your Legacy
We all know that there will be a time when we lay our heads down on the pillow for the last time. How do you want to be remembered? What qualities and characteristics will people remember you for? What outstanding accomplishments will you have made?
Action Step:
Sit down and write your eulogy. Looking back on the life of (insert your name)…
Putting it All Together: Your Purpose Statement
Review questions 1-4 above: Your Values, Your Passions, Your Assets and your legacy and ask yourself these questions:
“What does all this reveal about me?
What is my purpose?”
Become quiet and listen.
Write down what comes to you without self editing.
Then read and refine that into a 2-3 sentences
Your Purpose Statement is just that… a “statement.” You want to be able to remember and recite it easily to yourself and to others at any time. My purpose is…
Note: It can be helpful to set this Purpose Statement aside for a day or so and then come back and review it again. New words to describe something may come to you.
When you read it again to finalize it, notice if a resounding “YES” feeling rises up out of your being. Do you feel joy and also a sense of serenity? If these things are present, you will know that you’ve discovered Your Purpose.
