Today we are talking about affirmations because using affirmations is such a powerful tool for changing your life and manifesting your dreams.
My DreamBuilder clients choose an affirmation to focus on every day. Do you do that? I’d love it if you would share your experience with affirmations in the comments below.
For those of you that don’t know, the purpose of affirmations is to change your beliefs by reprogramming your mind. As Abraham Hicks says, “a belief is a thought you keep thinking. Other people call it reprogramming the subconscious mind. Modern brain science has shown that new synapses are literally created in the brain.
In any case affirmations absolutely do work. If you feel like they haven’t worked for you there are two possible reasons that I can think of.
Are You Consistent?
#1 is lack of consistency. If you keep saying what you want to believe often enough, it will eventually sink in. The key is consistency. Your monkey mind that doesn’t like changes might try to distract you or dissuade you from doing it. You have to make focusing on your affirmations a priority and schedule it. If it isn’t scheduled, it isn’t real. Choose to focus on your affirmations first thing every morning and throughout the day.
Do You Believe It?
The second reason that affirmations might not work for you, is that you don’t believe your affirmation or you don’t believe in the process.
There are differences in opinion about whether or not you need to believe your affirmations. Some people teach that you have to choose an affirmation that you can believe – that your logical brain won’t argue with.
Other people like Louise Hay and Rhonda Byrne believe that if you say something often enough eventually your brain will start to accept it. So you don’t need to believe it, you just need to want to believe it and keep saying it.

I recently heard a podcast with Rhonda Byrne where she said that in the beginning you’ll feel resistance in your body but with time it gives up and the affirmation starts to take a positive effect. It just takes time and lots of repetitions.
She tells a story about when she was making the movie The Secret she was 2 million dollars in debt $2000000! (Apparently some of her previous projects had gone wrong and she had had to borrow money to make The Secret movie. She was desperate for a solution and was using the Law of Attraction principles herself at that time. You may remember she talked about Charles Haanel’s book The Master Key, in the movie.
Rhonda, was pretty desperate, she was committed to believing in the process and there was probably a lot of emotion and feeling to support her affirmations and all those things energize the process.
And that’s like we practice in the DreamBuilder® Program where we visualize our vision as having already been accomplished and we live in the present moment as if it has been accomplished. We step into it, like stepping into a movie.

Louise Hay is one of the best known teachers of the power of affirmations. I don’t recall her ever saying you had to believe them in the beginning. I think that was because her practice was based on spiritual principles. There was an assumption that you are meant to be happy and to be loved and to be successful so you just keep focusing on your affirmations until they become your reality.
There is some level of faith involved in any case. You would have faith that the process works, even if there isn’t faith in the affirmation themselves in the beginning.
I think for me being a very logical person it’s helpful to choose affirmations that I can believe in but also I have a deep conviction that I’m entitled to have what I desire and that Divine Love will deliver, so for me it’s a matter of being consistent about focusing on it. It takes consistency to overcome habitual thinking and the negative messages in our environment. That’s why I have a daily practice of choosing an affirmation every day.
The Only Affirmation You Will Ever Need
Today I wanted to share with you an affirmation that might be the only one we ever need. It’s very powerful and can be used by everyone. Are you ready? “Everything is figureoutable.” “Everything is figureoutable.”
This is the title of Marie Forleo’s most recent book. Marie is a business coach, the creator of the MarieTV show and a business training program, called B-School.

Marie started out as a life coach 20 years ago and she teaches many of the same things that I do so I wasn’t in a hurry to read her book but I loved the title. I finally got around to reading it last weekend and I had this epiphany that this one affirmation could be the simplest key to life because when you tell yourself that everything is figureoutable, you feel really empowered, it really releases any fear or worry.
Do You Agree?
But then I wondered, is there anyone that doesn’t agree with that? What would the arguments be? Because that would be the only reason it wouldn’t work is if you didn’t really believe that “everything is figureoutable”.
Isn’t it true that everything really is figureoutable? And especially now with all the information on the internet. All the answers to everything are there.
What would be a situation where you couldn’t figure something out?
Things You Can Control VS Things You Cannot Control
There might be a situation that you’re not able to control but assuming you know the difference between things you can control and things you can’t, and you are just focusing on things that you can control and on making yourself happy in spite of the things that you don’t like and you don’t control, this affirmation would be the answer to everything wouldn’t it?

Wayne Dyer wrote a book with a similar idea called There’s A Spiritual Solution To Every Problem. I personally live by that, but I know a lot of other people shy away from the term “spiritual” and they could probably benefit from Marie’s affirmation instead.
In addition to introducing the idea that “everything is figureoutable” and how powerful it is, Marie addresses many of the same concepts that we study in the DreamBuilderⓇ program — like overcoming fear, increasing your sense of deserving and your self-esteem.
Overcoming Fear and Doubt
However, I found myself wondering…if you really believed that everything was figureoutable wouldn’t that be enough? If you were to believe this and use it and figure things out consistently, any self-doubt and fear would pretty much vanish or at least be very temporary. You’re self-esteem and sense of empowerment would increase as you experienced repeated success.
It might be as simple as believing one affirmation!
Our feelings are caused by our thoughts and if our dominant thought was “Everything is Figureoutable,” than we would feel pretty darn good most of the time.
Clarity Is Power

Marie also suggests a process for figuring things out and makes suggestions of places to look and actions to take. She recommends brainstorming and list making and I teach how to do that also. I’m a huge advocate of getting things down on paper. It helps you see things clearly and, as I always say, “clarity is power.”
In addition to writing down your vision, I recommend you write down a list of your perceived challenges and a list of solutions. Especially in a two column format. You put a problem on one side and the solutions on the other, you put the negative thought on one side and put a positive thought on the other side.
Motivation
And then there is the issue of motivation. However, if you believed that everything was figureoutable there wouldn’t be any motivation issues. You would be eager to take the steps to figure out the solution. As we do in DreamBuilders, you take baby steps everyday in the service of your vision.
As you can tell, I’m really excited about this affirmation. I want life to be simple easy and fun and this seems really simple, easy and fun to me.
Simple, Easy and Fun?
It’s a simple concept, it naturally leads to the other things that you need to do, and it doesn’t feel laborious. After all, getting results is always fun and makes us motivated to achieve more.
What Do You Think?
So what do you think? Am I missing anything here? Is “Everything is figureoutable” the panacea that I want to believe it is? I’d love to see what you think in the comments.
