Hi, It’s Mardi Lynn, certified DreamBuilder Coach at DreamBigAndBloom.com and welcome to Episode #2 of the Dream Big & Bloom Podcast.
Today I’m exploring a question that’s very dear to my heart and may be to yours too… “Why aren’t more people successful in creating what they desire in life?
The reason it’s dear to my heart is that I’ve always wanted to see people be happy and I’ve always wanted to help and I’ve been on a quest for over 40 years to find the solution. Also, I believe that if everyone were happy, there wouldn’t be any problems in the world.
I know it’s very idealistic to expect that we would ever ALL be happy, but I think that it’s absolutely possible for a lot more people than there are now to have more joy and prosperity. And I believe the DreamBuilder Coaching Program is the best way to make it happen.
The foundational practice of the DreamBuilder Program that I teach is visioning. This isn’t a new concept…It’s been around for hundreds, if not thousands of years.
There are many, many people who have taught the power of having a clear vision and setting goals. I’m sure you’ve been influenced by one or more of them.

One of the classic works on the subject is a book by Joseph Murphy called — The Power of Your Subconscious Mind: Unlock the Secrets Within.
Joseph Murphy was born in 1898 and died 1981. He lived a very interesting life. I’ll put a link in the show notes to a great article about him for those of you who are interested. (The article has been taken down since I recorded this podcast so I’ve substituted a link to Wikipedia.)
He was an Irish born, naturalized American author and New Thought minister, ordained in Divine Science and Religious Science. For those of you who are not familiar with these terms, I’ll put links to Wikipedia articles in the show notes at dreambigandbloom.com/blog
Murphy says that in order to have a life of happiness and abundance you need a blueprint and that’s the same foundational principle we use in the DreamBuilder Program. Phase One is Blueprinting. He says,
“If you were building a new home for yourself and family,
you know that you would be intensely interested in regard to the blueprint for your home;
you would see to it that the builders conformed to the blueprint.
You would watch the material and select only the best wood…steel…in fact, the best of everything.
What about your mental home and your mental blueprint for happiness and abundance?
All your experiences and everything that enters into your life depend upon the nature of the mental building blocks which you use in the construction of your mental home.
If your blueprint is full of mental patterns of fear, worry, anxiety, or lack, and if you are despondent, doubtful, and cynical, then the texture of the mental material you are weaving into your mind will come forth as more toil…care…tension…anxiety…and limitation of all kinds.
The most fundamental and the most far-reaching activity in life
is that which you build into your mentality every waking hour.
Your word is silent and invisible…nevertheless, it is real.
You are building your mental home all the time,
and your thought and mental imagery represent your blueprint.
Hour by hour…moment by moment…you can build radiant health…success…and happiness… by the thoughts you think…the ideas which you harbor…the beliefs that you accept… and the scenes that you rehearse in the hidden studio of your mind.
This stately mansion, upon the construction of which you are perpetually engaged, is your personality…your identity in this plane…your whole life story on this earth.
Get a new blueprint…build silently… by realizing peace…harmony…joy…and good will in the present moment.
By dwelling upon these things and claiming them, your subconscious will accept your blueprint and bring all these things to pass.
By their fruits ye shall know them.”
Isn’t that great news! You can have anything you desire by just visualizing it consistently, and keeping your thoughts and beliefs aligned.
The Action Steps
So what’s the actual practice for accomplishing this?
Take time to visualize your dream life several times a day. It’s fun and it’s easy. I like to do it in bed when I first wake up. I still remember a motivational speaker I heard years ago who said he didn’t let his feet hit the floor in the morning until he had himself pumped up with positivity.
Another good time is in bed right before you go to sleep. In fact, Murphy and others have said that the subconscious is particularly receptive to being reprogrammed during our sleep.
Another good time is in the middle of the day… like at lunch time. Kind of recharges you mind with good mental food, just like you refuel your body.
Hmm…isn’t it interesting that some Christians have a practice of saying grace (prayers) before each meal. And The Muslims get on their knees and pray 5 times a day.
Laugh…like I said, this isn’t new information.
So that’s for the blueprint.
Live It Now
And at the same time your blueprint is foremost in your mind, do your best to live as if you dream life has already manifested. Be that person. Walk like that person, talk like that person, dress like that person, think like that person. And do what you can…from where you are…with what you have…to move in the direction of your dream.
Some of your old thoughts and beliefs…your old paradigms will try to stop you and so you there’s a practice of monitoring and reprogramming of these old habitual thought patterns that don’t serve us. To change those, we notice what we are thinking throughout the day and then change any thoughts that don’t serve us.
Notice Your Thoughts
Some tips for doing this are.
You can set your phone alarm or notifications for 1 hour intervals so you can pause and observe what you’ve been thinking in the last hour.
Mary Morrissey, the creator of the DreamBuilder Program, uses door knobs. She figured that we use door knobs many times during the day and so that would be a good trigger.
The Three Powerful Practices
So there you have it. Three proven, reliable, repeatable practices for creating a life you absolutely love.
- Create a blueprint…a vision
- Read it and visualize yourself living it…3 times per day
- Notice what you’re thinking and change any thoughts that don’t serve you into more empowering thoughts.

A Burning Question
So now for my burning question for you….Why doesn’t everyone do this?
- Is it because they don’t truly believe it will work?
- Wouldn’t the solution be to put the idea to a test and prove it to yourself?
- Is it too difficult….to make the decision and commit to doing the practice?
